The promotion of sailing culture has been the primary goal of the Circolo Nautico Rapallo since its founding in 1951 by Count Carlo Ponzani and a group of friends passionate about boats and the sea. Yacht Club of Poland San Francisco was founded in November of 2000 as a chapter of the Warsaw-based Yacht Club of Poland. The Yacht Club of Poland was established in 1924 as a nation-wide organization with the right to create affiliated clubs in various locations. The club was dissolved during the years 1951-1956. In 1959 individual chapters gained organizational autonomy, acting in association with numerous clubs under the Main Council in Warsaw. The Yacht Club of Poland has over 1600 members, and its fleet consists of 600 vessels. One of the founders and first commodores of the Yacht Club of Poland was Mariusz Zaruski, a Brigadier-General in the Polish Army , and pioneer of Polish sports yachting. The Papenburg Yacht Club has existed since 1966. The purpose of the club is to promote water sports with motorboats and sailboats. It has over 100 berths, jetties, a clubhouse and a slipway, as well as two boathouses for approximately 50 boats.
