    At its' beginning the club was housed in a small shack at the waters edge. Since that time it has evolved into a full scaled yacht club occupying a two-story building.     Handicap sailboat racing in the Vineyard Sound since 1976! In 1976, a group of sailors from the Vineyard Haven Yacht Club saw a need for a different venue for sailing than that provided by the one design racing provided by the club at that time. The idea was to provide a less formal, more inviting form of racing for those less competitive in nature and for all levels of sailing experience, not just those raised in the yacht club environment. Any sailor with a boat not less than 15 feet overall and able to pay the $8 dues was welcomed. After race gatherings are at the Vineyard Haven Yacht Club, all are welcome.     Manchester Sailing Association (MSA), organized in 1971, is a not-for-profit community sailing program that teaches sailing and racing for all skill levels with a structured curriculum while promoting safety, fun and sportsmanship. MSA offers sailing lessons for children and adults of all ability levels from Manchester and the surrounding communities. The program takes place at scenic Tuck's Point and on the docks of the Manchester Yacht Club, with easy access to the Manchester Harbor and surrounding waters.     On August 10, 1946 five boats participated in the first sailboat race on Lake Massapoag. The second race, later that Sunday afternoon, saw eleven participants. There was a "committee dinghy" manned by Jim Rose. The sailors had some difficulty seeing the racing markers most of which had capsized due to the strong wind. A triangular course was sailed. Two weeks later, on August 24, the Massapoag Yacht Club was formed, so that "racing in Sharon could become a major sport."   • Mattapoisett Yacht Club Mattapoisett Yacht Club
    Founded in 1901. Since that time the club has continued to offer local sailors the opportunity to sail and race in Mattapoisett. For many years our Wednesday night handicap racing series has been the mainstay of the club. These races provide opportunities for all levels of experience, from beginners to seasoned racers. Around 2010 the club added Ensign Class one-design racing on Tuesday nights. Our Ensign "Fleet 76" has been one of the fastest growing fleets in the country. As part of our commitment to advancing the sport the Tuesday series will also include a start for the 420 class. 420's are sailed by our local Mattapoisett Community Sailing Association as well as the Old Rochester High School Sailing Team. As exciting as racing is, all of our members enjoy the sheer pleasure of day sailing and cruising on Buzzards Bay and its surrounding waters. We are truly blessed to have ideal sailing conditions and a seemingly limitless number of harbors and sailing destinations. MYC now offers a variety of cruising events for both sail and power boats.     The organization which was to become the Nantucket Yacht Club was first chartered in 1890 as the Nantucket Athletic Club. By the summer of 1906 a second group had come together, calling themselves the Nantucket Yacht Club, whose purpose was to provide sailing and racing for the summer residents of Nantucket, their families and friends. The leadership and membership have been able to hold a steady course - no easy matter with a seasonal operation - making changes as conditions have required and proving that yacht racing and sailing, tennis and social activity can all be kept lively and popular.     Established in 2001, the Newburyport Yacht Club is now widely recognized as one of the premier boating facilities on the Northern Massachusetts/Southern New Hampshire coast. The Club House and Marina are located on the Merrimack River, just minutes from Interstate 95 and US Route One. The Marina features sheltered, deepwater dockage, and is approximately a mile and a half upriver from one of the premier sport fishing and sailing areas in the Northeast. The Marina comprises 192 slips on three docks. In addition to the Club House, amenities include ample on site parking, a pool, and men's and women's restrooms with hot showers.
