  • George's River Trout Unlimited George's River Trout Unlimited
George's River Trout Unlimited is the Mid Coast Maine Chapter of Trout Unlimited. TU's mission is to conserve, protect and restore North America's cold water fisheries and their watersheds. The national organization has 140,000 volunteer members in 400 chapters across the country, in addition to a professional staff of 100 people at its national headquarters in Arlington, Virginia and in regional offices. Our Chapter's members' major focus is the St. George's River which is our home river. In 2003 the Chapter was responsible for removing a dam on the river approximately 30 miles from the mouth of the river at the Gulf of Maine. This precedent making project opened up an additional 17 miles of water to anadromous fish which come up the river to spawn. The Chapter continues to monitor the river for favorable conditions for brook trout, brown trout, both fresh water and sea run fish, increased spawning of alewives and the hoped for runs of Atlantic Salmon. Located in Mid-Coast Maine

  • Maine Council of Trout Unlimited Maine Council of Trout Unlimited
The Maine Council of Trout Unlimited's mission is to conserve, protect and restore Maine's coldwater fisheries and their watersheds. We do this with five Maine chapters and about 1500 member-volunteers, through on-the-ground restoration projects, advocacy for the waters we love, and education. Maine is home to the nation’s last Atlantic salmon, the last native landlocked salmon and to more than 97% of the nation's native and wild brook trout ponds. From the removal of dams on the Kennebec and Penobscot River's to surveys of remote beaver ponds for native brook trout that deserve protection, Maine TU volunteers are working for our waters and fish. To keep our programs flourishing and our waters healthy we need your support.
