The Sea Rescue Society was started by enthusiasts over 100 years ago. And so it still is. All lifeboats have a volunteer crew that is ready to line up around the clock, all year round. We are involved in about 90 percent of all sea rescue in Sweden, without funding from the state. The entire business is based on gifts, membership and non-profit contributions. We have 74 rescue stations and more than 260 rescue units along our coasts and in our largest lakes. And 2,300 volunteer lifeguards who are ready to pull out, around the clock, all year round. Within 15 minutes, the rescue is on its way when the alarm goes off. Gothenburg, Sweden
