  • Prince Albert Angling Society
Back in 1954 a group of a dozen or so friends and match anglers regularly met at the Prince Albert Pub in Newton Street Macclesfield, Cheshire. They fished either on day tickets or as guests of one of the big fishing clubs of the day. This led to the idea that they should club together and rent a water of their own, and the rest "as they say is history". From those humble beginnings the Prince Albert Angling Society has grown to be arguably the largest and most successful fishing club in Europe today boasting a portfolio of circa 220 waters, within a geographic area stretching from the Scottish Border in the North to the river Wye in the South, the Fylde Coast in the West and the Pennine Chain in the East These waters give members the opportunity to fish coarse lakes and rivers simply for pleasure, for the specimen angler numerous lakes with carp over 35lbs and lakes and rivers holding pike to 35lbs plus. Barbel on numerous rivers run well into double figures and specimen chub commonly feature in catches on these rivers. Equally the Game Angler can trout fish on reservoirs, lakes and streams and salmon fish on large fast flowing rivers, and all of this set in some of the most glorious areas of the English and Welsh Countryside. Prince Albert has a number of well stocked still water trout fisheries plus we offer members the opportunity to fish a number of large trout fisheries including Blithfield, Ladybower and Cleweddog Reservoirs. In the light of increasing exploitation of mullet by both commercial concerns and sport anglers, our members are encouraged in the strongest possible terms to practice catch and release at all times and are reminded that the commercial sale of mullet is incompatible with membership of the NMC. Membership is made up of anglers of all abilities, from the very experienced to those yet to catch their first mullet. Southampton, England UK

Formed in 1977, our Mission Statement reads: 'The Pike Anglers’ Club of Great Britain' (our original name) will work to establish an environment in which pike are valued; both as a sporting fish and necessary part of the management and ecology of fresh-waters. During the PAC's long and proud history, the Club has fought and won many battles to protect both pike and the sporting rights of pike anglers. Fishery owners and managers, including trout waters, now appreciate pike as an important resource – due in no small part to PAC's efforts. PAC continues to pro-actively and re-actively address potential and actual problems affecting pike and pike anglers. PAC is the largest single-species group in the UK and the only organisation dedicated to pike throughout the UK.
