  • Emsworth Cruising Association Emsworth Cruising Association new
Emsworth Cruising Association was formed in 1966 by a group of boat owners based in Emsworth Yacht Harbour. Although the membership has increased and is now much more widely spread, Emsworth is still our focal point. Membership is open to anyone interested in boating, whether an owner or not. It is hoped that children will take part in events run especially for their benefit and it is the welcoming of children which distinguishes the ECA from other clubs where perhaps racing is the main aim. Our objectives are simple: to enjoy boating safely and to encourage the newcomer to cruising. Although the Association does not have a clubhouse, social activities are still an important feature. During the winter, suppers, film shows and lectures are held at local venues and, during the summer, our programme includes barbecues and dinners at other clubs plus spontaneous events arranged when cruising together. However because the Project found it necessary a year later to become a registered charity it was no longer able to remain a sub committee of the club and so the Club elected it as an Associate Member.
