Enoshima Yacht Club (EYC) was founded as the host yacht club at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Since then, we have been holding many of main yacht races. The Japanese yachting Director and the 20 national sailors, our EYC members, represented Japan as Olympians to make the name of EYC known to the sailors around the world. Since EYC was founded, we have spread sailing and ocean culture. The Essex Boat Club is a private club located on the Connecticut River. The club was founded in 1958 as the Essex Outboard Club for recreational boating and to provide access to the Connecticut River for small boats in the Essex area. Land was purchased on the Great Meadow in 1960 and the club was incorporated in 1970. The NHEYC is a non-political, non-sectarian Official Adjunct organization of the Newport Harbor Elks Lodge 1767 and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. The Yacht Club celebrated their 50-year anniversary in 2023. The NHEYC is a recognized member of the Southern California Yachting Association (SCYA) which is a regional recreational boating organization that services yacht clubs in our area.
