Serving the cruising sailors of Ireland. Around 2002 some active cruising sailors felt a need for a broadly-based organisation to encourage and support non-competitive sailing at all levels. With the encouragement of the Irish Sailing Association (ISA) they met at Howth Yacht Club, founded an independent voluntary association and devised rules and a constitution. We operate in Ireland, working with the ISA and the Royal Yachting Association (RYANI). Most members have sailing yachts, but we don’t exclude motor yachts and cruising dinghies. Membership is open to all who share our interests. We encourage people to go cruising. We organise overnight rallies and longer cruises. We provide a discussion forum for sharing plans. We help clubs share their cruising calendars. We provide information to help cruising sailors. Our website contains links to reference information, articles, event reports and news. We organise training events. We represent the interests of cruising sailors to public authorities and private organisations. We promote cruising in the boating community and to the general public. • Cruising Club of America Cruising Club of America
The Cruising Club of America was launched in the winter of 1921-22 by a handful of experienced offshore sailors interested in cruising and the development of the cruising type of yacht. At its core, the CCA is a collection of passionate, seriously accomplished, ocean sailors making adventurous use of the seas. All members have extensive offshore boat handling, seamanship, and command experience honed over many years. It is a special club for many reasons. Our members have found pleasure and fulfillment through the camaraderie of like-minded friends who share a love of ocean sailing and voyaging. The membership is not held together by a physical clubhouse -- it is a diverse community of individuals with a mission that has inspired its achievements, guided its growth, and passed along an identity and purpose that has served many generations. We are an international organization of over 1,200 sailors who have voyaged the oceans for adventure and recreation. Our members have broad sailing experience, exemplified by superior seamanship and demonstrated through significant command. Equally important to the mission of the club are the members' geniality of spirit and willingness to share knowledge and friendship through cruises, social events, publications, and posts on this website.

  • Ocean Cruising Club Ocean Cruising Club
The Ocean Cruising Club exists to encourage long-distance sailing in small boats and is the true 'Home Port' for the ocean-going sailor. To be a part of the OCC is to be a part of a group of people who have said 'yes' to adventure and who will welcome you if you choose to do the same. The people in the Ocean Cruising Club represent the distilled essence of the cruising community, a potent combination of accomplishment, experience, idealism, eccentricity, generosity and humility. The sole qualification for Full membership, entails stepping aboard a boat and making a continuous ocean passage of at least 1000 nautical miles, measured by the shortest practical Great Circle route between two ports, in a vessel not more than 70 feet overall length. The Ocean Cruising Club maintains an active and vibrant network of over 200 Port Officers worldwide as well as Regional Rear Commodores to cover various geographic areas. To draw members together, the OCC organises a number of cruises, rallies and get togethers in different areas of the world. The OCC is a world-wide club for blue water sailors. It has no premises and members regard the seas and harbours of the world as their clubhouse.

  • Pacific Puddle Jump Pacific Puddle Jump
Sailing from the Americas to French Polynesia. Ever since Latitude 38 editors coined the phrase 'Pacific Puddle Jump' nearly 20 years ago, we’ve taken great pleasure in supporting, and reporting on, the annual migration of cruising sailors from the West Coast of the Americas to French Polynesia. Boats from many nations register with the rally (currently free of charge), and they depart any time between late February and early June from various points along the West Coast, with the largest concentration of passage-makers jumping off from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and Balboa, Panama. Latitude 38 holds annual send-off parties at both locations (dates to be announced soon). There is no committee boat, nor are there mandatory daily radio check-ins, however, several radio nets always evolve, which are administered voluntarily by fleet members. Although Puddle Jump sailors set sail independently, they share information on preparation, weather routing, and inter-island cruising via radio nets and electronic communications before, during and after their crossings.
