The East Coast Windsurfing Association (ECWA) was formed in January 2014 to promote the sport of windsurfing through amateur competition and instruction. ECWA will organize future East Coast Windsurfing Festivals on Long Island, Cape Cod, and possibly other locations on the US East Coast. In addition, the ECWA will make windsurfing instructions from US Sailing certified windsurf instructors available on Cape Cod. Long Island, New York, and Cape Cod, Massachusetts

The New York Kite Center (Pereira Adventure Sports, LLC), owned and operated by Captain John Pereira in Amityville, NY on the Great South Bay. The project initially started as a BEST Kiteboarding School in 2008, with John taking over the business in 2009. Pereira is an IKO Certified Instructor Level II and has been kiting for over decade. His experience teaching the sport goes many years and his knowledge has spread throughout the business and local community.
