    The club was founded in July 1952. Many activities of the club occur on a spontaneous basis, following are those that re-occur annually. The 'shack' (clubhouse) is manned everyday, weekends and holidays with day launches, memberships, fishing licenses and bait for sale. Lots of good advice is available on what's catching Salmon and Halibut and how and where to catch the big ones. The Esquimalt Anglers participate each year in Esquimalt's Buccaneer Days.     In 1964 a number of like-minded Finnish Canadians decided to band together and form a club. The Finnish Canadian Fish and Game Club was born. The purpose of the club was and still is to promote and participate in all sorts of outdoor activities here in B.C., such as hunting, fishing, fish and wildlife conservation, as well as practicing and teaching good sportsmanship, outdoor safety and ethics. We typically plan one or two-day weekday fishing trips each month while trying to keep participant costs to a minimum. We vary our fishing expeditions by sampling local lakes, rivers and the ocean.     The Tyee Club of British Columbia began in 1924 with a group of anglers who returned to Campbell River each year in pursuit of the elusive "Tyee" - a coastal Indian word meaning, "the chief", a Chinook salmon, 30 pounds or larger. Tyee fishing here is different. You’ll fish quietly in small, classic row boats. No motors are allowed in the Tyee pool.
