    The Madison-Gallatin Chapter of Trout Unlimited was formed in 1968 by Bud Lilly, Dan Bailey, Pat Sample Halterman, Bud Morris and John Peters. This group came together because of mutual concerns over southwest Montana fisheries, including habitat impacts and the threat of a dam on the Yellowstone River. Habitat issues and dams have continued to be key concerns of the Chapter over the years. Today the The Madison-Gallatin Chapter has a rich heritage of strong advocacy for the Madison and Gallatin watersheds and and our native and wild trout. We are currently over 900 members strong. Founded in 1964, Montana Trout Unlimited is the only statewide grassroots organization dedicated solely to conserving and restoring coldwater fisheries. Montana Trout Unlimited is comprised of 13 chapters representing approximately 3,400 Trout Unlimited members.     Our Mission: To provide traumatically injured U.S. servicemen and women from Iraq and Afghanistan with a high quality restorative program, utilizing the therapeutic experience of fly fishing on Montana waters. WQW brings wounded warriors to Montana for a six day program of fly fishing and recreation. Most warriors who come are still in rehab in the military hospital system. Once here, they have the opportunity to relax and to learn to fly fish in the quiet and beautiful surroundings of Montana and neighboring Yellowstone Park. The program provides transportation, accommodations, meals, and gives each warrior a complete fly fishing outfit including rod, reel and waders to keep so they can continue to fish when they leave MT – all at no cost to them.
