Rowing NSW
Rowing New South Wales is the recognised state sporting organisation for the Olympic sport of Rowing in NSW, Australia. The New South Wales Rowing Association (NSWRA) was formed in 1878. On July 1st, 2011 the Association adopted a new constitution and became Rowing New South Wales Incorporated (RNSW). The initial impetus for the formation of the Association was a challenge from our neighbouring state of Victoria (or colony as it was in those days) for a race to be conducted in 1879*. Things haven't changed much since - just more states to challenge for racing supremacy in Australia. Since 1878 the number of rowing clubs in NSW has grown from three clubs at the time the Association was established to more than 35 clubs today, not counting a host of schools with rowing programs. Rowing New South Wales governs the sport of rowing in NSW. It decides on the rules for racing in NSW, determines boat classes for racing events, sets an annual calendar of regattas, and promotes the rowing in this state. Through the club and school system the sport caters for male and female rowers from elite to novice level including athletes with a disability. Membership of Rowing New South Wales is around 5000. Sandy Point Dragons Boat Club
Sandy Point is located in Sydney's south west, on the southern side of Georges River. The club has three boats. We use the scenic river as our training ground, and paddle as far west as the M5 bridge, and as far east as the Alford's Point bridge. The club accommodates paddlers of all ages, from juniors 12 years and older, right up to great grand masters. Our Club House is right next to the boat ramp, at the end of the main street of Sandy Point. For convenience, paddlers can also be picked up from the Picnic Point side of the river. - Southside Paddlers
Southside Paddlers
Founded officially in July 2010 with the first meeting, Southside Paddlers is the newest sprint canoe club in Australia. The club actually started unofficially in late 2009. The club logo represents a sprint kayaker, racing on the river at Dawn or Sunset, the swoosh of the paddle spray forming an S ( for Southside). Our club colours Red/Orange/Yellow and the base colours of black and white. The club calls the western bank of the Woronora River at Woronora home, starting with 2 containers and a handful of basic k1’s and TK1’s for beginners to learn to paddle. The club evolved to provide paddlers to learn and train to an elite level in sprint canoe. Woronora is a great location for coaching and paddling with the bridge and man made walkway along the western bank, almost like a Race course. Woronora, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
