    The Benscreek Canoe and Kayak Club is a group of paddlers from The Alleghenies region of Pennsylvania (near Johnstown) established in 1970. We all share a common interest in the outdoors and boating in particular. Our purpose is simply to promote the enjoyment, challenge, safety, and camaraderie of kayaking and canoeing.     Fairmount Rowing Association was founded in 1877. The facility, #2 Boathouse Row, is on the National Register of Historic Places. In recent years they have mostly been known as the premiere club for Masters rowing in the mid-Atlantic region. Fairmount also boasts a small but excellent Juniors program, and even a few Elites.     Located on historic Boathouse Row in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Malta Boat Club has been dedicated to the sport of rowing since 1860. Throughout its history, Malta has enjoyed success at every level of national and world competition, and recently represented on the US National Under 23 and Senior Team. Malta currently hosts many active rowers who participate in Schuylkill Navy and Philadelphia rowing events through racing, volunteerism, officiating, and coaching.     Pennsylvania Dragon Boat Club (PDBC) is an 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to building a community around the sport of dragon boat. Since 2015, we've been building PDBC from the ground up. We taught ourselves how to coach and paddle. We raised enough funds to purchase two dragon boats, two outrigger canoes, and dozens of paddles and PFDs.     In the summer of 2001, then Philadelphia Police Commissioner Timoney formed the Philadelphia Police Boat Team in order to compete in the World Dragon Boat Championship, which was being hosted in Philadelphia on the Schuylkill River. Since then, the Philadelphia Police Boat Team has been competing nationwide and internationally in both Dragon Boat and Outrigger Canoe races, promoting camaraderie amongst not only law enforcement officers and Firefighters but also within the boating community.     A competitive but welcoming dragon boat team, we paddle three times a week out of the Three Rivers Rowing facility in Millvale. When we are not in the dragon boat, you might find us in our outrigger canoes, improving our strength and endurance, or just enjoying river life. The Pittsburgh Paddlefish Dragon Boat Team has been paddling the Allegheny River since 2003. Affiliated with Three Rivers Rowing Association (TRRA), we work out year-round, on the water for as long as we can, or at our complete indoor facilities with paddling and rowing ergs, weights and core.     The Schuylkill Dragons, founded in 2001, is the oldest continuously active women's dragon boating team in Philadelphia. The team includes paddlers of all levels ranging from beginners to those experienced in international competitions. This team of women, ranging in age from 20s to 70s, continues to shatter society’s preconceived notion of aging and to create great role models for women of all ages. The team provides challenging, well-organized, coached workouts. Some members focus on local, regional, national or international competitions while other are involved to keep fit.     The Schuylkill Navy began in 1858 with nine clubs and approximately 300 members. In 1983, its 125th year, it boasted a membership or ten clubs and more than 1200 participating rowers. The ten clubs (with dates of joining) are the University (1858). Undine (1858), Bachelors (1859-70, 1882-date), Malta (1865), Crescent (1868), Vesper (1870-71, 1819-date), college (1875), Fairmount (1916), Penn Athletic (1925), and Philadelphia Girls (1961). At least 23 other clubs have belonged to the Navy at various times. The Schuylkill Navy and its member clubs still host many races. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

  • Undine Barge Club Undine Barge Club
    The Undine Barge Club was organized on May 9, 1856, for “healthful exercise” and “relaxation from business.” Named after the spirit of babbling brooks from the Legend of Undine, the Club constructed its first boat house, a fifty feet long by eight feet wide shed situated a few hundred yards east of the present boat house. A four-oared barge was purchased, christened the Fawn, and first rowed on June 19, 1856. Undine enjoys a rich heritage, evident from numerous trophies and photographs displayed throughout the boat house and its upriver club house, Castle Ringstetten. From the early days through the present, this fine old boat house has been the home of many outstanding men and women, as well as great champions through its dedication to "healthful exercise."
