Founded by eight Central Kentucky fisherman in 2012 to help foster the growth and awareness of kayak fishing through a series of CPR (catch, photo, and release) tournaments and events. It is our mission to provide a strong and consistent avenue for kayak fishing in Kentucky, while also protecting our resources. The Bluegrass Kayak Anglers are committed to growing the sport of kayak bass fishing. In doing so we like to offer a variety of opportunities for all anglers. These are some social events where the focus isn't necessarily on competitive fishing and is geared towards those who just want to get out on the water with other anglers and have a great time! Formed in 1976 and now a 200+ member club of human-powered watercraft enthusiasts, the BWA is based in the Lexington, KY area. We have kayakers and canoeists of all ages and ability levels. Join other members on boating trips all around the region, country, and world. Though not sponsored or sanctioned by the club itself, these trips are usually arranged privately between club members. Each winter & summer BWA members volunteer their skills to help paddlers lean how to roll their boat when they flip. This is a must learn skill if you paddle whitewater. Lexington, Kentucky

Our purpose is to promote the appreciation for the recreational value of wilderness canoeing, to encourage and promote navigation of wild and semi-wild rivers by canoe and kayak; to promote the conservation of such rivers by cooperation with local and national organizations whose purpose and interests are in the fields of conservation and the preservation of wilderness; to promote the safety of the sport through training and information to members; and to place the main emphasis on conservation and preservation of the North, South and Main Forks of Elkhorn Creek. Are you interested in rowing, but have never rowed before? Fun, affordable classes are available to non-members. We welcome new adaptive athletes and/or volunteers to get involved. Our main purpose is to unite persons interested in paddling and to promote the safe and responsible use of navigable waters. Our membership is made up of all types, from beginners to class V boaters. We paddle canoes, rafts, duckies and kayaks. Organized trips are planned throughout the year with veteran members leading on a volunteer basis.
