The event is a fun filled, family friendly weekend that includes everything from a rock concert on the beach to the thrill of community teams competing in the centuries old Chinese sport of dragon boat racing. Central Iowa Paddlers is an informal group of paddlesport enthusiasts founded in March of 1997. The mission of the club is to share information, promote paddling opportunities and paddlesport safety, and encourage care of our aquatic resources. The group includes both new and experienced paddlers from diverse backgrounds. We hope you will join us!

We are an active club that paddles whitewater and flatwater in canoes, kayaks and sea kayaks. Our current schedule of activities is available and includes trips throughout the midwest. Located in northwestern Illinois - eastern Iowa, USA, where Interstate 80 crosses the Mississippi River, we live in an area known locally as the Quad Cities, comprised of Rock Island, Moline, East Moline, Illinois and Davenport, Iowa.

The Skunk River Paddlers (SRP) are a group of Ames area paddlers, many of which are members of the ISU Canoe & Kayak Club, Iowa Whitewater Coalition, Iowa Water Trails Association, Central Iowa Paddlers and other paddling and conservation organizations. SRP members lead and participate in trips mostly within Central Iowa, Iowa, and the upper Midwest. We also organize and participate in paddling workshops and service activities. The Skunk River Paddlers promote conservation and environmental awareness through education and stewardship.
