    Oyster Point Dragons (OPD) saw its humble beginning in 2012 as it morphed out of the Ocean Dragon Diehards, a team organized to compete in the 2012 Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races in Kowloon, Hong Kong, China.     We are friendly open-water rowers who enjoy the beauty of Monterey Bay. We row from the Santa Cruz Harbor onto the ocean. For longer distance rowing, we row to Capitola and the Cement Ship in Aptos. The Santa Cruz Rowing Club was started by a small group of rowing enthusiasts around 1975 and formalized in 1985. Now the Santa Cruz Rowing Club owns 15 open-water rowing shells for use by members. SCRC members participate in many of the open water races in Northern California and beyond.
