We are friendly open-water rowers who enjoy the beauty of Monterey Bay. We row from the Santa Cruz Harbor onto the ocean. For longer distance rowing, we row to Capitola and the Cement Ship in Aptos. The Santa Cruz Rowing Club was started by a small group of rowing enthusiasts around 1975 and formalized in 1985. Now the Santa Cruz Rowing Club owns 15 open-water rowing shells for use by members. The club was originally known as the "Ventura Olympic Canoe Club" and had many National titles in the late 1970s and 80s.
