North Lake Yacht Club and North Lake Sailing School are for all of us who have a common interest in promoting sailing as a life-long activity and sport on North Lake. The North Lake Yacht Club was formed in 1953 to provide an organization that would offer sailing and social activities for the families of North Lake. For the first 35 years the North Lake Yacht Club also maintained a Sailing Club which taught sailors of all ages through formalized summer classes and hired instructors. Founded in 1938, OLYC offers one-design racing, a youth sailing school, and social activities. The primary goal of the Okauchee Lake Yacht Club (OLYC) is to promote the sport of sailing and provide a social setting for those with a common interest of Okauchee Lake. OLYC is proud of the long history of developing quality racing fleets and sailors that are recognized as among the best nationally. The core of this goal is met by managing and supporting four primary racing fleets on the lake (C Scows, MC Scows, X Boats, and OPTI's). The Yacht Club also works closely with the Okauchee Lake Sailing School (OLSS) to provide fully staffed sailing classes to our youth sailors. The Wisconsin Yachting Association (WYA) is a regional organization supported by inland lakes sailing clubs located in southeastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Each year the WYA sponsors a championship regatta for Class C and Class X scows and has been doing so since 1938. Our events, predominately governed by US Sailing's and the Inland Lakes Yachting Association's racing rules, attract as many as 70 teams vying for the WYA's historic hardware.
