Originally named, The Renew Rod Shop, their business plan was to provide a service to maintain and repair fishing equipment for the returning post-war sportsman and to be a source for new quality gear. The shop's name changed to Wanigas Rod Company shortly after operations commenced. The name is the city of Saginaw spelled backwards. The Wanigas Rod Company built a name for one of the most extensive selections of bamboo, fiberglass and graphite rods in the country.
