SciJinks is all about weather! Launched in 2002, we are a NOAA educational website that puts fun and adventure into learning about weather, satellite meteorology and Earth science. We are geared toward middle- and high-school aged kids and their educators. We've got informative articles that answer important questions about weather, profiles of fun weather jobs, mobile and web games about satellites and technology, exciting videos and tons of downloadable content. This site is produced by the NASA Space Place team at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory for NOAA National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), with funds from the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite – R Series program and the Joint Polar Satellite System program. The Maritime Administration (MARAD) is responsible for ensuring mariners receive the training and education necessary to secure and strengthen the quality of U.S. maritime operations at sea and ashore. The K-12 education program is an integral part in reaching and inspiring the next generation of mariners. MARAD is working with schools, industry, and government partners to foster interest in maritime education and connect potential students to educational and training institutions. Maritime K-12 schools offer various maritime curricula that provide pathways for students to enter the maritime workforce directly after graduation, further their education and training at maritime-oriented institutions, or even attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy or one of the six State Maritime Academies.
