The Australian Underwater Federation (AUF) is the governing body for underwater sports and amateur diving in Australia. Australian Underwater Scuba Instructors (AUSI) was established in 1994 and is an internationally recognised certification agency. AUSI's goal is to provide the diving industry with affordable, quality education services aimed at ensuring that trainee divers and instructors receive the highest quality diver education. AUSI provides standards, course notes and teaching guidelines for both scuba and snorkel trainees. DIAA's purpose is that of a forum to encourage the free exchange of ideas and information on diving-related issues; to seek solutions to matters of common concern, and to offer practical advice and support to its constituent membership.
