The GBCC membership has people of all skill levels, from novices through advanced paddlers. Paddlers have a diverse range of interests including canoe camping, sea kayaking, scenic and relaxing easy moving water, fun intermediate white water, and advanced adrenaline rushes. The club offers coordinated trips throughout the year and offers beginner kayak and canoe classes to members.

The Monocacy Canoe Club (MCC) is the fastest growing paddling organization in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C., area, and is also the club most steeped in tradition. The rock solid core of the club is its annual cruise schedule, currently featuring more than 100 river trips, canoe campers, out-of-state paddling weeks, dam-release weekends, family float trips and canoe sailing. - Sycamore Island Canoe Club
The Club owns two islands in the Potomac River: Sycamore Island and Rupperts Island. All club facilities are located on the lower Island, Sycamore. Rupperts Island, which is directly upstream, is home to beaver, cormorants, geese and other wildlife. Flat-water canoeing can be enjoyed in the quiet water around the islands. The club maintains a canoe-shed to store member-owned canoes. The club also owns several canoes which are stored separately that can be used by members and their guests.
