The US Lighthouse Society is the nation's oldest and most respected historic lighthouse preservation and education organization. Its Long Island, New York Chapter, formed in 2000, is an autonomous, all volunteer non-profit organization, composed of over 300 Long Island lighthouse fans. The Long Island Chapter was established to assist in the restoration and preservation of the lighthouses of the Long Island, New York area and make Long Island's lighthouse heritage known to the public.

- Montauk Lighthouse

Welcome to the Montauk Point Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in New York State. The Lighthouse was authorized by the Second Congress, under President George Washington, in 1792. Construction began on June 7, 1796 and was completed on November 5, 1796. This historic landmark has been part of Long Island's land and seascape for over 200 years and still serves as an active aid to navigation.
