    The Chester Sailing and Canoeing Club was formed in 1956 as a joint club to cater for both canoeing and sailing on the River Dee. The Club house is about a mile from the centre of Chester. The first floor has a large recreation room overlooking the river with a bar, extensive seating and a pool table. Outside, there is a flat area for sitting out on summer evenings and the occasional barbecue. The ground floor, at river level, has changing rooms for the canoeists.     The club offers dinghy racing, RYA training, various youth training, powerboat training, and social activities. Chew Valley Lake is the biggest inland waterway in the south-west of England and a great place to sail. The lake is situated on the northern edge of the beautiful Mendip hills, eight miles south of Bristol. On the water, the Club can easily cater for fleets of over one hundred boats and we have in the past been called upon to host many large events. Five separate slipways enable easy launching.     Clacton-on-Sea Sailing Club is situated at the extreme eastern boundary of Clacton-on-Sea within the Holland-on-Sea Country Park. Facing South, prevailing South Westerly and North Easterly winds make for excellent sailing and thanks to the recently remodelled and recharged beaches launching & landing is possible at all states of the tide. The boat compound is fully fenced with room for 100 boats, ample car parking, generous camping space and within easy reach of the shore.     Combs Reservoir was built in 1797 and not much happened there until Combs Sailing Club was founded in 1950. At that time it was the only sailing club within a 40 mile radius. Combs Sailing Club lies amid the glorious scenery of the Peak District. The reservoir is just over a kilometre long and about 400 m wide near the dam. The surrounding hills rise gently to create a beautiful setting with winds that are less gusty than neighbouring reservoirs but still able to provide interesting sailing. The Club runs a large variety of competitive sailing events for members, mainly on Wednesday evenings and Sundays. The Club has several boats, which members may use. Training is organised by the Sailing Committee during the summer months, usually on Saturday afternoons.     The club is based near Skipton in North Yorkshire. The 27 acres of water provides a great environment for learning to sail and demanding but enjoyable racing.     Located close to Burnham on Crouch in Essex, the club provides excellent launching facilities on the River Crouch, away from the mass of moorings off Burnham. Established in 1957 the club is affiliated to the RYA and has an interesting history. With a boathouse, changing area with toilets and showers. All are hidden from the river, the club is definitely low profile but attracts a keen band of members. Most local sailors will recognize the starting hut adjacent to the slipway. The club provides racing for all classes dinghies (we regularly have at least seven boats racing out of a fleet of approximately 18!!) and has an active cruising membership.     The Dee Sailing Club was formed in 1909 and has come a long way since the early days of sailing in Heswall. The clubhouse is now located on a picturesque site in Thurstaston which boasts one of the most enviable views on the Wirral peninsular. Whilst DSC is well known as a top catamaran racing club, we do have all sorts of boats that sail here ranging from large yachts down to optimists and any boat is always welcome with us. Even though the club’s number one rule is the promotion of sailing, not everything we do is constrained to the water.     Welcome to the Dell Quay Sailing Club. The club house and dinghy park are situated in the upper reaches of Chichester Harbour next to the small village of Apuldram – about five minutes away from Chichester in a car. The tidal harbour covers an area that stretches from Havant to West Wittering and Chichester to Hayling Island. It offers the sailor a variety of conditions from the calmer waters found at the tops of the channels to the rougher more bracing conditions near the heads – all subject to tide and wind conditions. Dell Quay is predominantly a family oriented, non-profit making club – but this doesn’t stop us from offering tempting land-based facilities for our sailors. Our club house is fully equipped with bar, lounge area, galley, changing rooms, showers, toilets and sun deck. We host regular and popular social events that all members are very welcome to attend.
