There is something very special about French Bay Yacht Club. We are a community focused club with its clubhouse cantilevered out over the picturesque Manukau Harbour. Dating back to the 1950s, the club is where people come to sail and enjoy a range of other water activities. For 2017-18 we've got a brand new fleet of junior Learn to Sail dinghies, another new safety boat, and a massive change to our club through the construction of the rigging deck out over the water. These changes have modernised the club and made it a fantastic place to hang out as a family over the weekend, messing about in boats. We have great learn to sail programmes both for kids and adults, running year round, with the accent on a fun introduction to sailing. Auckland, New Zealand

  • Onerahi Yacht Club new
Onerahi Yacht Club was established in 1952 to promote yacht racing in Whangarei. In the early days the Club was predominantly focussed around centreboard fleet racing off the beach coordinated from a hut on the foreshore, with an assortment of classes initally although activities soon grew around the P and R classes. Participants also included Idle-alongs, Cherubs, Cherokees, Ok's and the like. The keeler fleet also quite quickly established into a worthwhile fleet with some adventurous souls in its midst. Present-day activities still cover a spread of both smaller and larger boats although, like many sports clubs today we no longer see the large turnouts of the heady days of the '70's and the '80's. However in recent years the introduction of evening centreboard racing throughout the summer has led a resurgence of young centreboard sailors at the club, with boat numbers regularly exceeding 30. Despite it's relatively small membership, the Club enjoys a strong spirit and an ongoing focus on developing opportunities for all those interested in yachting, be it learning to race youngsters in centreboarders through to established members in keelers.
