    Founded in 1837 Athlone Boat Club is one of the oldest rowing clubs in Ireland. The club is steeped in tradition and has played a leading role in the sporting history of the town. We are located on the banks of the River Shannon beside Custume Barracks. Our club caters for oarsmen and oarswomen of all ages from Junior to Masters and has a proud history at National and International level. With the recent delivery of a new recreational boat we have introduced leisure rowing in the club and hope to develop same in tandem with competitive rowing. Athlone, Ireland

  • Castleconnell Boat Club new
    Rowing since 1983. Castleconnell Boat Club was founded 30 years ago and is situated in a unique and picturesque location on the banks of the river Shannon in the village of Castleconnell, Co. Limerick. It is only 6 miles from Limerick City and 3 miles from the University of Limerick. We are the envy of many as we can row on nearly 4 km of uninterrupted waters of the river Shannon between the villages of Castleconnell and O’Briens bridge. This section of the river is non-tidal and can be accessed all year round. Castleconnell Boat Club is a relatively young club but we are growing rapidly. We are open to all members both young and old. Our junior rowing program has doubled in size over the last two years and caters for children from 11 to 18 years.     Clonmel Rowing Club was established in 1869 on the Eastern End of Moore's Island by a group of local boating enthusiasts. It still occupies the same site today. The club is one of the oldest affiliated rowing clubs in Ireland and one of the oldest sporting clubs in the town of Clonmel and on the River Suir.   • Dublin University Ladies Boat Club new
    Dublin University Ladies Boat Club was founded by Jane Williams, the first captain, and a number of her friends who wished to row, but were unable to join the men's club. Starting out with only ten members, the fledging club adopted pink and black as its club colours and began to compete on the Irish domestic circuit, winning its first national title in the coxless four in 1979. Since that time, the club has won numerous championships at both a university and national level, as well as producing a number of athletes who have represented the country at the highest level—World Championships, World Cups and U23 World Championships. Currently the club consists of over 60 members, operating out of the Trinity Boat House in Islandbridge, Dublin 8. The club caters for both highly experienced athletes and complete beginners, training a number of novice crews to compete at the University and National Championships each year as well as fielding very competitive Senior, Inter and Club squads, who represent the club at home and abroad.   • Killorglin Rowing Club new
    Founded in the early 1990s, Killorglin Rowing Club (KRC) is situated on the banks of the river Laune. The river being the venue for our water based training when the tides are right! Our state-of-the-art boat house was completed in 2004 and the excellent facilities are well used for land based training when we can't get on the river. We are the hosts of the Munster Branch Head of the River, held on the beautiful River Laune in Feb/Mar each year. Unlike most rowing clubs in Ireland, our season is on all year round. KRC was the first club in Ireland affiliated to both rowing unions, the Irish Amateur Rowing Union (IARU) and the Irish Coastal Rowing Federation (ICRF). KRC has grown from a small number of dedicated members, eager to revive local traditional rowing, to now one of the fastest growing and most sucessful rowing clubs in Munster.     Offaly Rowing Club was established in 1985 from humble beginnings at Cappincur, on the Grand Canal. Offaly Rowing Club has had numerous victories in Irish Championships and Regattas and at International Regattas. Offaly Rowing Club has been providing access to rowing for people with disabilities through the adaptive rowing boat programme at the club house. Offaly Rowing Club also participates in the new indoor rowing programme using ergometers in association with secondary schools throughout the county.   • St Michael's Rowing Club new
    Founded in 1901, St Michael's Rowing Club is one of Ireland's Premier Rowing Clubs. It caters for oarsmen and oarswomen from Junior 12 to the more experienced “Masters”, some of whom are 60+ years young! During the past three decades it has established itself as one of the major forces in Irish rowing by winning no less than 37 Championships at all grades from Junior to Senior. The long 106 year wait came to an end in 2007 when the Club won the coveted Senior VIII “Big Pot” being the first crew to bring the trophy to Limerick in 80 years. It has had 197 of its members selected for International representation. Members have won 3 World Championships and have rowed at three Olympic Regattas. Unlike certain other successful Irish Rowing clubs, almost all its oarsmen and women are "home-grown" having commenced with the Club as Juniors.   • Thames Heritage Boat Museum new
    The Tamesis Trust has been established to build and manage a Heritage Boat Museum at Beale Park near Pangbourne. The museum will exhibit historic steam launches and motor boats afloat and on static display, plus examples of the different types of machinery used for mechanical propulsion from the early 1800's. There will be explanations about the dramatic development of boat building which occurred during the 19th century but has now virtually disappeared; the history of the navigation, how this was managed and has changed so much since the early 1800's.     The Society For Unpowered Boating. The Society was founded in 1980 to promote the continued use and conservation of traditional, non-powered craft, mainly Skiffs, Dinghies, Punts and Canoes. During the summer months, weekend and longer cruises are organized and rallies, regattas and festivals on waterways in the UK and abroad are attended. During the winter months social events with a boating theme are arranged.   • UCC Rowing Club new
    University College Cork Rowing Club is one of the oldest and most successful sports clubs in the University beginning life in 1868 on the Marina in Cork as the Queens College Cork Rowing Club. Since 1912 the club has won 21 National Championships in a variety of categories from the Lightweight Men’s Single Scull to the Novice Men’s 8+. The club has also been a strong competitor in the mid-season Grand League Regattas, which have been taking place nationwide since 2010. Among other notable events that UCC have performed well in are London Head of the River, London Metropolitan Regatta, and Henley Royal Regatta.     UCD Boat Club can trace its roots back to 1917. The club is based in the boathouse at Islandbridge, Dublin 8, shared with UCD Ladies Boat Club and Old Collegians Boat Club. Training also takes place in Blessington and in the UCD Sports Centre. We are always welcoming new members. The club has been producing Irish international oarsmen since 1948 and it is one of the aims of the club to continue this trend and provide the support and coaching necessary to achieve this goal.
