  • Adventures Offshore new
Adventures Offshore is a sail training charity based on the UK east coast and offering a wide range of offshore sailing adventures to young people and adults, in UK waters and beyond. Operating successfully since 1964, the unique experiences we offer provide participants with opportunities for challenge, excitement and adventure; whilst sailing offshore on our modern Oyster 49 ketches, Ocean Scout and Offshore Scout. We believe that the non-sailing skills learned and social interactions had on board our boats are at least as important as the sailing itself. Therefore, whilst we are registered as an RYA training centre, this is not our primary focus. Our main aim is to provide adventure and personal development opportunities - offshore sailing is merely the tool we use. Adventures Offshore provide a wide range of sailing opportunities throughout the season (April-October), including day sails, weekends and long weekends from Ipswich and exploring the UK east coast. These competitions form some of the biggest inclusive and prestigious sailing regattas in the country and serve as achievable milestones for the young people. Our membership is divided between group memberships for local association teams, sailing clubs and outdoor education centres and individual adult and youth members. For Practical Sailing the NSSA works with the RYA on a joint proficiency scheme. It is recommended that sailing takes place at a recognised Training Centre using RYA Qualified instructors.

  • Ocean Youth Trust Scotland new
Our award winning sail training voyages let young people discover their true potential through the experience of sail training. Ocean Youth Trust Scotland is a world leading youth work charity, delivering an annual programme of residential youth work voyages aboard its fleet of sail training vessels. We sail with young people from a wide range of backgrounds throughout Scotland and beyond from 12 to 25 years of age. In most cases these young people will have no previous sailing experience. We exist to inspire young people through the challenge of adventure under sail. Residential voyages aboard our fleet of sail training vessels provide a uniquely powerful and extremely effective environment for the personal development of young people from a diverse range of backgrounds. We operate a modern, well maintained, fleet of sail training vessels. One of these is a Challenge 72' ocean-going racing yacht, and the second is an Oyster 70'. Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland, UK

  • Ocean Youth Trust South new
Ocean Youth Trust South is charity which uses Adventure Under Sail as a personal development opportunity for young people aged 12-25, taking them to sea in our 30-metre vessel Prolific. We sail with around 450 young people each year. Roughly two-thirds will be disadvantaged or vulnerable in some way: we work in partnership with other organisations both to select these young people and also to ensure that lessons learned and achievements enjoyed on a voyage are carried through into a long-term programme of work with each young person. For all these young people, a voyage is designed to develop confidence, team-working, the ability to cope with unfamiliar situations, and tolerance and understanding of others. Young crew members not only sail the boat, keep watch and help to navigate; they also learn basic life skills such as cooking and healthy eating. Gosport, Hampshire, England, UK
