    MCTINA— a 501(c) (3) non-profit, tax-deductible educational association—has become the de facto standard for marine technical education, offering students a combination of hands-on field training combined with online technical forums. AMTECH—the Association of Marine Technicians—has been dissolved and re-branded as the Alumni of MCTINA Technicians; as such, it is no longer a membership organization, but rather a support/recognition and certification affiliate of MCTINA. The National Marine Service Expo will continue to be MCTINA's premier educational event. NMSE is held each January and is the educational heartbeat from which all MCTINA training is built. Wherever our apprentices are coming from, wherever they may be headed, the Boat Shop provides a safe harbor before setting sail on a new course in life. Our high quality boats and other wood products are lovingly made using traditional woodworking tools and techniques. The Carpenter's Boat Shop Apprenticeship is a 9-month commitment beginning in mid-September and ending in early June. Each year, 10 apprentices are selected from a pool of 20-30 applicants 18 years of age or older.     A non-profit organization dedicated to serving the youth of Washington State by opening new pathways to maritime employment and building awareness of the maritime industry. YMTA will promote and support elementary, middle and high school programs and associated youth organizations in Washington State that provide maritime education, training and experiences for students.
