  • Sail Training Shetland
    Formed in early 2009, Sail Training Shetland is a registered Scottish Charity and is a collaboration between The Swan Trust, Lerwick Port Authority and Shetland Tall Ships 2011 Limited. We provide annual sail training opportunities to young people aged between 15 and 25 years from all over Shetland, using our partnerships with tall ship operators to provide sail training on a variety of different ships. Sail training is an experience that requires participants to confront many demanding challenges, both physical and emotional. It is an activity that inspires self-confidence and the acceptance of personal responsibility, promotes an acceptance of others whatever their social or cultural backgrounds, and develops a willingness to take controlled risks.   • Swan Trust - Swan LK243 - Traditional Shetland Fishing Sail Boat
    Swan LK243 is a fully restored, Shetland-based boat dating back to 1900 which currently offers sail training, dedicated charters and unforgettable adventures. The Swan was launched in 1900. She was one of the finest boats among the Scottish fishing fleet, and was the largest ever built at Lerwick in Shetland. The Swan Trust offers voyages around the Shetland Islands, and to other destinations such as Faroe, Norway, Iceland and Amsterdam. When you come aboard the Swan you are undertaking an adventure. You are part of the ‘hands on’ crew for that trip, and come under the command of the skipper. You will play an active role in sailing and working the ship on passage.   • Westward Quest
    For some years we have been taking parties of 6 to 10 people sail cruising on the West Coast of Scotland, and the Aegean Sea. Westward Quest is a Christian charitable company which makes sailing weekends and holidays available to individuals and groups. We were recognised by the RYA as a teaching establishment in march 2002. We use a 42 ft Ketch Weaver and 38 ft Sloop Alcuin. Westward Quest offers a wide range of sailing experiences.
