A vessel safety check usually takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending upon the size of your boat. Vessels passing safety checks are awarded a U.S. Coast Guard / Auxiliary Decal that informs: Coast Guard / Auxiliary, Harbor Patrol, Sheriff's & Police, and other boating law-enforcement & safety agency's that your boat was in full compliance with all Federal and State boating laws during a safety check for that year. Best of all every Vessel Safety Check is 100% Free of charge! Inspections available throughout the U.S.

  • Victor Shane's Drag Device Data Base Victor Shane's Drag Device Data Base
Every year lives are lost at sea in storms. Others find themselves in storms but manage to survive and live to tell the tale. Some ride through the storms in relative comfort, others limp home with broken boats and broken bodies and minds. But all have a story to tell. The goal of the Drag Device Data Base is to collect together such stories so that we can learn from them. What worked? What didn't work? How can we better prepare our boats and ourselves so that, should we be caught in a storm, we can make it through and arrive safely at our destination? If even one life is saved as a result of this effort, then it will have achieved its goal. The goal is that all mariners should know about the pros and cons of including a sea anchor and/or a drogue on-board their vessel. Then they can make an informed decision about what equipment to carry and, when put to the test, they will at least have some idea of how and when to use it.

  • Water Sports Foundation Water Sports Foundation
The Water Sports Foundation (WSF) was founded in 2003 on the premise that a safer boating culture saves lives and that more should be done to reduce senseless boating casualties. As the non-profit educational arm of the Water Sports Industry Association (WSIA) our boating knowledge runs deep. We recognized that while boating and paddling are not inherently dangerous activities, they could easily be much safer. These statistics underline the importance of promoting safe boating habits, and we have made it our mission to build that culture. We work proudly with the Coast Guard and other partners to further our shared goal of reducing casualties by making every boater a safer boater. Orlando, Florida

  • Waves of Hope Waves of Hope
We're forever-changed families impacted by boating and open water tragedies. We want to share our stories to educate others about boating and water safety, so our stories never become another family's story. We are the "why" behind the "what" of boating and water safety. That one moment that changed our families forever could have been prevented. A life jacket. A propeller guard. An aware boat operator. An engine cut-off device.
