  • Brunswick Naval Museum & Memorial Gardens
Poised just hundreds of feet from the icy North Atlantic, with a legacy of 68 years of relentless vigilance, Naval Air Station Brunswick, Maine, carved a unique place in US and Naval history and played a critical role in maritime patrol aviation world-wide. With important contributions during World War II, Vietnam and the Cold War, and with squadron deployments to Korea, the Far East, Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, tens of thousands of airmen and women trained and flew from Brunswick, often in harm's way and usually out of the limelight. The former Naval Air Station in Brunswick (NASB), was a key player during World War II and The Cold War, and its strategically important location is the perfect setting for a museum to preserve this unique and untold period of American history and to honor those who served at NASB. • Destroyer Escort Historical Museum
Visit the Destroyer Escort Historical Museum in Albany, NY where you can see the only remaining Destroyer Escort afloat in the United States today. During World War II, 563 Destroyer Escorts battled Nazi U-boats on the North Atlantic protecting convoys of men and material. In the Pacific they stood in line to defend naval task forces from Japanese submarines and Kamikaze air attacks. Today, only one of these ships remains afloat in the United States, the USS SLATER. Moored on the Hudson River in Albany, New York, the USS SLATER has undergone an extensive restoration that has returned the ship to her former glory. The museum offers hour-long guided tours, youth group overnight camping, and a historic location to hold naval reunions. Albany, New York

  • USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park
USS Bowfin (SS-287) is a fleet attack submarine that fought in the Pacific during WWII, and helped to make famous the term, “Silent Service.” Bowfin was launched on 7 December 1942, exactly one year after the attack on Pearl Harbor. She was nicknamed the Pearl Harbor Avenger, so it is fitting that her permanent home is at Pearl Harbor, Hawai'i. USS Bowfin is fortunate not to have ended up as scrap metal or as target practice and Bowfin is one of only fifteen U.S. WWII submarines that survived this fate. Today, USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park, is a reality; her story and the story of the U.S. Submarine Force, past and present, will be able to live on thanks to the hard work and dedication of individuals from both the military and the civilian communities.
